Who says transitioning your wardrobe is only relevant in the fall? I'm sure I won’t be alone when I say that I have been wearing
the same chambray button up shirt all winter , the super soft, studded, gold
snap button shirt (you can’t go wrong with snap buttons) quickly became one of my favorite articles of
clothing back in October when I picked it up from Zara. Now spring is
in the air, and I am not ready to part with it just yet, although I am aware I will
need to find a lighter version if I want to continue wearing chambray into the
summer, but for now my tried-tested-and true chambray will do just fine!
As a result, I have for your viewing pleasure; chambray for spring 3 ways.
1.The Lazy Way: this is what I do whenever I'm lazy; I throw on chambray and add a fancy pair of pants + heels. I have been doing that all winter with red jeans, grey wax jeans, bright blue dress pants, there are endless possibilities. These pants are from Topshop and my shoes are Bottega Veneta sorry they are from SS2012 and are no longer available. The pants are also transition pieces in this instance because they are from Fall, but the cropped length can easily be worn in spring, keep in mind they are too heavy for summer because of the brocade material. FYI, in case you care about what men think hubby said this was his favorite look; I think men like when there is less going on and of course always enjoy a sexy pair of heels. So the simplest outfit that took me a whole minute to conjure up was the fan favorite, go figure.
2.The Cutesy Way: I love layers, but I have to admit this took some adjusting and I almost lost my patience. My shirt has a zipper on the back which is lovely aesthetically but a pain in the toosh when getting dressed on your own, do not attempt unless you have a room-mate or the lil mice from Cinderella on hand. My pants are from Wilfred and the blouse is Topshop. NB: at first when I put this on I cuffed the sleeves to show the shirt under the blouse, but there was too much going on with the collar and the shirt tails already poking through so I opted for the floral blouse covering the chambray at the wrist.
3. The Fun Way: It’s still way too chilly to wear
this in Toronto, but I'm sure somewhere out there like in Victoria BC or Cali
girls are already rocking dresses. The best part of this outfit is my new pair
of Marc by Marc mouse flats. Available herein black or white
as well. My lucky elephant necklace is from J.Crew and the orange cuff
is Tory Burch , also from last year sorrrrrry.
I really love the shirt with your polka dot dress! I have a similar dress and shirt in my closet and I'm going to try it like that! Thank for the inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Paulette! Its such a great look I hope you enjoy it, and wherever you are in the world I hope you can try it out soon and not only indoors like me lol
DeleteAww Jenny, i love the second look and i love love love your blog. It is so sweet and so original. I also agree the floral top works well with the cuffs of the shirt hidden. Now i love those blue shoes too. Nice!

Hi Jenny, first time commenter, long time reader. I really enjoy your fresh take on the fashion blog world, I myself have been blogging for awhile now, and it has always provided me with great joy. Lately though, I've been wondering, do you think there is more to life than being a really, really good fashion blogger?
ReplyDeleteHey Anonymous, thanks for taking the time to comment. Glad to hear you enjoy the blog and share my love for Zoolander, it's a classic! Why don't you share with me that blog of yours so I can check it out ;)
DeleteLove all three outfits, especially the white one. Love how you made the chambray shirt formal. Definitely a spring must-have.
ReplyDeleteLove the versatility you've shown in this post! The first outfit is my favorite too - your hubby has good taste :)
ReplyDeleteThe second outfit has inspired some ideas for work outfits - I've never tried layering shirts before so this should be fun!
The last outfit is really cute, hopefully I can fit something like that in before autumn ends over here (I'm from Australia!)
