Transition Pieces: Chambray Edition

What to do with that chambray shirt you've been wearing all winter..

Who says transitioning your wardrobe is only relevant in the fall? I'm sure I won’t be alone when I say that I have been wearing the same chambray button up shirt all winter , the super soft, studded, gold snap button shirt (you can’t go wrong with snap buttons)  quickly became one of my favorite articles of clothing back in October when I picked it up from Zara. Now spring is in the air, and I am not ready to part with it just yet, although I am aware I will need to find a lighter version if I want to continue wearing chambray into the summer, but for now my tried-tested-and true chambray will do just fine!

As a result, I have for your viewing pleasure; chambray for spring 3 ways.

1.The Lazy Way: this is what I do whenever I'm lazy; I throw on chambray and add a fancy pair of pants + heels. I have been doing that all winter with red jeans, grey wax jeans, bright blue dress pants, there are endless possibilities. These pants are from Topshop and my shoes are Bottega Veneta sorry they are from SS2012 and are no longer available. The pants are also transition pieces in this instance because they are from Fall, but the cropped length can easily be worn in spring, keep in mind they are too heavy for summer because of the brocade material. FYI, in case you care about what men think hubby said this was his favorite look; I think men like when there is less going on and of course always enjoy a sexy pair of heels. So the simplest outfit that took me a whole minute to conjure up was the fan favorite, go figure.

2.The Cutesy Way:  I love layers, but I have to admit this took some adjusting and I almost lost my patience.  My shirt has a zipper on the back which is lovely aesthetically but a pain in the toosh when getting dressed on your own, do not attempt unless you have a room-mate or the lil mice from Cinderella on hand. My pants are from Wilfred and the blouse is Topshop. NB: at first when I put this on I cuffed the sleeves to show the shirt under the blouse, but there was too much going on with the collar and the shirt tails already poking through so I opted for the floral blouse covering the chambray at the wrist.

3. The Fun Way: It’s still way too chilly to wear this in Toronto, but I'm sure somewhere out there like in Victoria BC or Cali girls are already rocking dresses. The best part of this outfit is my new pair of Marc by Marc mouse flats. Available herein black or white as well. My lucky elephant necklace is from J.Crew and the orange cuff is Tory Burch , also from last year sorrrrrry.

Spring In My Step

Okay, today is Valentines Day, which in my books means its pretty much no longer Valentines Day, cause lets face it, if you haven't already planned a grand romantic gesture, or picked up a gift for your sweety then don't even bother, just move right along. And what better topic to move along to then spring, if you didn't hear, that smart little ground hog has predicted an early spring, and it was only -10 today here in Toronto, sooo I am feeling pretty optimistic that sunny skies and green grass are not too far away. What better way to prep for a Sunday afternoon frolic through the park then with a spring shoe post! Look no further, these are my top picks for Spring 2013.

Not shockingly these are all from Net-a-porter (yes I have an addiction)

(Clockwise)1. Charlotte Olympia 2. Cherry's By RED Valentino 3. Silver Miu Miu's 4. Orange Alexander McQueen 5. Black and White Stripe Marc by Marc Jacobs Mice 6. Multi Colour Mark Jacobs 7. Charles Philip Shanghai
I have a love for flats, I have collected so many and have learned the hard way which ones are wildly uncomfortable * ahem, Tory Burch gold logo flats * I'm sorry, I have a leather purple pair but I cant wear them for longer then 10 minuets no word of a lie. I'd love to add a few of these to my collection this spring, and I am thinking of starting with the silver Miu Miu's.

Next up, my top sandal picks. I must admit, I have so many pairs of sandals most of these picks are pretty impractical. But, the reason why I love spring and summer so much is because that is the time when I am most creative with my shoe choices. After having my foot in a boot all winter with socks (omg omg ew ew socks) I live for these fun, colourful strappy numbers. My favourite out of all of these below are the Sophia Webster multi-strap, I mean LOOK at that heel! Ugh...

(Clockwise) 1. Sophia Webster 2. Chloe 3. Brian Atwood  4. Marc by Mac Jacobs 5. Marni
It's been a very snowy, and very chilly winter over here in Toronto, and I cant wait to get my pedicured toes into these sandals. Typically I plan out my spring and summer wardrobe from February, I have made my resolution back in January to officially stop purchasing anything winter related and I have already began to save up and stock up on fun spring items. I think that's the best way to do it, its helps you budget accordingly for big ticket items and by the time spring rolls around you have a new wardrobe of fun, light, colourful spring outfits to enjoy.
